Our History

Back in 1996, our co-founders Frank and Mark began designing and building innovative automation machines under the name Motion Design - all from a humble tractor shed. We then developed a world-leading beef robot for processing plants in the USA.

In 2001, we launched Intellitech Automation to develop a range of DHIA laboratory sample-handling robots, originally created for LIC. One of these, the ILAS3000, remains a trusted milk sample-handling waterbath robot across New Zealand, France, Denmark, Sweden, and China, processing millions of herd-testing samples every year.

Since then, we have engineered numerous automation machines and solutions across many industries, supporting customers around the world. In 2020, Intellitech Automation returned to the Motion Design brand. Today, we are proud to be one of the pioneering automation companies in New Zealand and a leading provider of custom-made automation and software solutions globally.
